DIANE CARDILL
The essential lines of animals
ABOUT DIANE CARDILL
My work is inspired by the essential lines, shapes and anatomy of animals. I integrate human gestures into my sculptures; working with a balance where one does not know from which the emotion originated. In my work, I strive to merge accurate animal anatomy with human gestures even though the skeletal structures of animals and humans are very different.
The sculptures I create are playful, based in both reality and imagination. They encourage the viewer to cast a backward glance at childhood. Rabbits and hares are often depicted in my work because they are highly expressive; simultaneously charming and calculating.
I often depict French expressions in my work, creating a relatable moment for the viewer.
I have a vast knowledge and skill sculpting with both traditional and industrial materials.
